  1. We periodically see the type of bird in the last photo. The sandhill cranes used to come around a lot more often, but not so much since they’ve been spraying for the zika mosquito …. I don’t know if that is why or not, but we don’t see as many butterflies, either.

      • I suspect that whatever poison they are spraying to kill the zika mosquito, here in FL, is also killing other insects and perhaps birds, too. The good news is that I haven’t seen a mosquito in ages. The bad news is that I haven’t seen many butterflies this year and there aren’t nearly as many of the insect-eating birds around.
        IMHO, it would have been a lot smarter and more environmentally-friendly to insist that humans make sure they don’t have pots, etc. where mosquitoes might breed (Purr has guppies, which eat the larva in her personal pond), and wear DEET.
